Steven O. Boehlke, Artistic Director

Steve retired in 2000 from Rosemount High School, ISD 196. In addition to his choral direction at Rosemount, he has worked in church music for more than 40 years. Steve currently directs the Senior and Handbell choirs at Grace Lutheran Church, Apple Valley. Following his retirement from Rosemount, Steve taught choral music education and worked with student teachers at the University of Minnesota. He served as interim choral director at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, where he conducted the Concert Choir, Chamber Singers and taught Choral Conducting.

During the fall of 2007, Steve served as guest conductor at Gustavus Adolphus College where he directed the Gustavus Choir for “Christmas in Christ Chapel.” In the spring of 2011, Steve was invited back to his alma mater, Minnesota State University, Mankato, to serve as interim conductor for Dr. David Dickau. He directed the Concert Choir and taught Choral Methods.

Steve served the American Choral Directors Association in many leadership positions including state president from 1991-1993, and North Central Division ACDA president, 1998‑2000. He served on the Organizing and Executive committee for the Sixth World Symposium on Choral Music, presented in Minneapolis/St. Paul on August 3-10, 2002.

Steve was named the Minnesota Music Educators Association Choral Director of the Year in 1990. In the fall of 2000, ACDA of Minnesota named him Choral Director of the Year. In the fall of 2005, he received the F. Melius Christiansen Award, presented for lifetime conducting experiences, outstanding contributions and distinguished service to choral music in Minnesota. In February of 2008, Steve was inducted into the Minnesota Educators Association Hall of Fame.  In June, 2010, he received the first Rosemount High School Legacy Award, recognizing  his contributions and service to the community.

Steve organized the Minnesota Valley Men’s Chorale in the fall of 2003. He remains active as a clinician and guest conductor throughout Minnesota.

Steve and Margaret have two daughters. Mary, a professional singer, lives in Memphis, Tenn., with her husband Todd Wilson and son Fletcher. Sarah, choral director at Chanhassen High School, lives in Chaska with her husband Jon Gilbertson and their twins Esther and Weston.

Margaret Boehlke, Accompanist

Margaret Boehlke is a graduate of Minnesota State University, at Mankato, with a degree in Music Education and an area of concentration in piano. Margaret is a Nationally Certified Teacher of Piano and has maintained a private studio in her home for over 30 years. She has been an active church musician serving as an accompanist and as a full time organist. Margaret is also an active accompanist in the Twin Cities area. She is a member of the Minnesota Music Teachers Association and the Music Teachers National Association. She has served the State Association as Ensemble Festival Chair, Educational Forum Chair, Foundation Treasurer, and State Board Treasurer. She recently completed her term as President of South Suburban MTA. In October of 2005, she organized and chaired an educational forum "All That Jazz" on jazz piano for MMTA.
